Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly. Written by Ed and Damien Chazelle. Starring Ashley Bell and Muse Watson.
Plot: Nell is trying to lead a new life after the events of the first movie, but of course, the devil won’t let her alone
Nell is all innocent and cute and you really feel for her, or at least, we did. It drew us right into the movie. We wanted to see her succeed with her new life and her new friends and her new love interest. It was building up so much potential in the beginning and then the second half turned into a crapfest just like the original movie.
The high points are the actors, who are completely believable in their roles, and the effects, which are shockingly good. Everything else was shit. It was a tired story with another crap ending and a demon that was never quite developed. I mean, who is Abalam? What does he want? Why Nell?
The movie is very sexual without actually showing any intercourse. The demon isn’t phased by voodoo or Catholicism and we call bullshit. Demons are part of religious mythology so if their are demons, there should be religious symbols and ceremonies that can at least scare the demon. But whatever. Don’t make sense. No skin off our back, but you’re getting a crappy score.
Last little bit, and I tell you this with a SPOILER WARNING!!!!!, don’t get too attached to Chris. Me and DJ both really, really liked him and once he was killed, we were done. The rest of the movie we sat through really angry and by the end, we were so pissed off our heads hurt.
Bottom line: Watch at your own risk. I gave it a 32/100 and DJ gave it a whopping 23.
