Blood Creek (AKA – Town Creek) (2009)

Directed by Joel Schumacher.  Written by David Kajganich.  Starring Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Dominic Purcell.

Plot: 2 brothers become wrapped in a horrifying fight for survival with an immortal Nazi

It’s a shame that Michael Fassbender is all ugly and evil in this movie, but it is what it is.  Fassy is a Nazi who finds the key to immortality in a rune on the Wollner family farm.  This immortality of his also curses the Wollners and isolates them from the rest of the world.  Decades and decades later, Dominic Purcell has gone missing.  Out of the blue he turns up on his brother, Henry Cavill’s, doorstep and says he wants revenge on the people that were holding him hostage – the Wollners.

It’s a very complicated story, but the real gist of the whole thing is that Michael Fassbender is an evil Nazi (I guess that’s pretty redundant) and he’s controlling the Wollner’s and when Purcell and Cavill show up, he drags them into the whole mess and death and destruction follow.

Low points: a lot of animals die in this movie.  It’s upsetting to me.  And DJ is upset by the fact that Fassbender is so damn invincible.  For much of the movie there is no way to stop him or even slow him down really.  Also, no one except Dominic is completely likable.  A lot of the other people are frickin’ cowards if you ask us.  And a little too whiny.  Just shut up and fight damn it!!

High points: Michael Fassbender.  An original and interesting story.  It followed the rules that it laid out.  Awesome special effects.  And a great cast, including Michael Fassbender.

DJ thought it was good, but nothing to write home about, so he gave it a 52/100.  I actually found it quite fascinating and highly recommend you watch it at least once: 70/100.
