Plot: when a young nun kills herself, a troubled priest and an “almost nun” are sent to investigate – what they find is a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun
The young nun has killed herself to stop the demonic force from getting a vessel because that’s the only way it can come into our world and I guess, leave the nunnery. When the priest and the “almost nun” get there, they meet up with a hot guy named Frenchie (cause he’s French see) who found the hanged body of the nun. Have I mentioned before how much I hate hanged people? They creep me out so bad. So there’s that. It opens positively enough.
Maybe it was my fault because I went in with high hopes. We enjoyed The Conjuring and the nun’s face had spooked us before. Lucky for DJ he went in thinking he’d be disappointed because religious themed horror movies usually end up disappointing him in some way. A lot of the time it’s because the rules end up being shit and for some reason the devil is unbelievably strong while God seems to have take a hiatus. Sadly, it was the same way in this movie.
Any rules it made it pissed away. We were unimpressed with the direction of Hardy and the ending was shit. There was some good acting though, mainly from the three main people, but it wasn’t enough to save the movie. We don’t recommend it. It puts nothing towards The Conjuring story.
My score: 38. DJ’s score: 30.
