Plot: a soldier of fortune accidentally unearths Ahmanet, an Egyptian princess, who then goes on a furious rampage through London
A long time ago, Ahmanet (Boutella) wanted all the power of a Pharaoh, but when the Pharaoh had a son, she knew he would inherit the power, so she called upon the evil of Set, the God of violence. Set gave her power so that she could kill her father, the Pharaoh, his son, and also her own lover because Set wanted to use his body to come back to Earth and wreak havoc. She never got the chance to kill though because she was caught, entombed alive and buried in Iraq.
In the present day, soldiers of fortune (including Cruise and Johnson) and an archaeologist (Wallis) uncover Ahmanet’s resting place and that’s when the visions, the possessions and the killings start. See, Ahmanet needs to kill to get her skin back, just like in the other movies, and she also wants a vessel for Set, still.
It was a pretty good movie actually. A lot of funny parts. Also, it is creepy. Much, much creepier than we were expecting. However, DJ didn’t really like anyone but Jake Johnson’s character. And I didn’t really like the ending. It was sort of a “to be continued” that I’m not sure is ever going to be continued.
Still it had a magnificent cast, marvelous effects, a good script and it was really fun to watch. We totally recommend it.
My score: 61. DJ’s score: 57.
