Directed by John Krasinski. Written by Krasinski, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Starring Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward and Leon Russom.
Plot: in a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced into silence while hiding from monsters who will hunt whatever they can hear.
I can’t say anything about this movie. Not a thing. It would give so much away. And at the same time, I can’t say enough about this movie. We were really, really amazed by this one. John Krasinski should really be patting himself on the back.
Okay, so what can I tell you? It opens with a bang. Closes with one, too. It got both opening and ending points from us because they were both so powerful we’re not apt to forget either of them soon. We did have a problem with some of the choices that the characters made. A lot of dumb moves for people who have been living in this silent world for so long. Although, to be fair, me and DJ probably would’ve just ended it. We couldn’t have lived like that.
So, what do I say about the movie? The monsters have a weakness and DJ figured it out in the beginning of the movie, but he still liked it. There was some unbelievably good acting, impressive creature effects and great direction. It followed rules, had a terrific script, and was completely tense while also fun to watch. We recommend it so much.
My score: 78. DJ’s score: 73
