Written and directed by David Cronenberg. Starring Marilyn Chambers, Frank Moore, Joe Silver, Susan Roman, Howard Ryshpan, Patricia Gage and Lynne Deragon.
Plot: a young woman develops a taste for blood after having surgery – her victims turn rabid and then go onto infect others.
A girl (Chambers) and boy (Moore) get into a motorcycle accident and the girl is deformed. So, they do skin graphs and heal her up, but the surgeries cause some sort of thing in her armpit that sucks blood. Yes, it is as nasty as it sounds. Anyway, the girl runs away, scared, and starts feeding on people, but these people turn into zombies and then start attacking other people. Soon there’s an epidemic and all the while the boy is searching for the girl without knowing that she is the cause of all the trouble.
There are plenty of boobs, but Marilyn Chambers was a porn star, so… yeah. And Frank Moore’s acting is amazing. The movie wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but DJ didn’t really like it. Mostly because while I walked away from the end satisfied, DJ did not.
I do wish there had been more explanation. And apparently they weren’t zombies, but it wasn’t rabies either, so why was the movie called Rabid? If you’re a ridiculously loyal horror fan, then watch this. If not, you could probably skip it and not miss anything.
My score: 45. DJ’s score: 39.
