Visions (2015)

Directed by Kevin Greutert.  Written by L.D. Goffigan and Lucas Sussman.  Starring Isla Fisher, Anson Mount, Eva Longoria, Jim Parsons, Bryce Johnson, John de Lancie, Joanna Cassidy and Gillian Jacobs.

Plot: after moving to a vineyard with her husband, a pregnant woman begins having terrifying visions.

Eveleigh (Fisher) and David (Mount) move to a vineyard a year after a horrible car accident that killed a child in another car.  Now, Eveleigh is three months pregnant and her and David want to open a vineyard.  But immediately after getting to the vineyard, Eveleigh starts having nightmares and terrible visions.  Then, she meets Sadie (Jacobs) who is also pregnant and they become friends.

It all feels very Rosemary’s Baby.  The doctor (Parsons) and the husband want Eveleigh on medicine because they say she has PTSD because of the accident.  I didn’t even think you could take those types of drugs while you were pregnant, but who am I?  And Sadie keeps telling Eveleigh not to take the meds because she’s all about a “no chemical” lifestyle.

Honestly, we didn’t care much about the movie because we didn’t care much about anyone in the movie.  Everyone is so flawed and wants Eveleigh to do exactly what they want her to do without actually listening to her.  It was also completely predictable.  THe motive was horrible, but sadly, we saw it coming.

It did get points for the impressive casting choices, the sensational effects and the actual following of genuine rules.  Everything else though, was pretty nauseating and we don’t recommend.

Our score: 35.
