When A Stranger Calls (2006)

Directed by Simon West.  Written by Jake Wade Wall.  Starring Camilla Belle, Katie Cassidy, Clark Gregg, Brian Geraghty, Tessa Thompson and the voice of Lance Henriksen.

Plot: a babysitter is stalked by a lunatic.

While this remake is not as good as the original, we still really liked it and actually do own it, so we definitely recommend.  In this version, Jill (Belle) takes a babysitting job with a wealthy family, in a big old house, to cover her heightened cell phone bill.  But after checking on the children once to make sure they’re comfortable in their beds, she starts receiving mysterious, sinister phone calls.

This movie is pretty damned tense.  I don’t watch it alone.  The whole babysitter urban legend scares the crap out of me.  A lot of urban legends scare the crap out of me.  And just like with the original, I’m not gonna spend a lot of time talking about this movie, I’m just going to tell you to watch it.  Scare yourself a bit.  It does a body good.

My score: 76.  DJ’s score: 65.
