Directed by Ellory Elkayem. Written by John Claflin and Daniel Zelman. Starring Thomas Calabro, Dean Stockwell, John Savage, Kristen Dalton, Dean Wray and Walter Marsh.
Plot: a Maine island becomes infested with lethal insects that nest inside their victims.
Dr. Ben Cahill (Calabro) has a problem with alcohol and takes a sort of mandatory vacation to a house in Maine. The first problem he faces is with the locals, who don’t like him very much. The second, and most pressing problems, are the insects killing people.
This was a TV movie and the specials are pretty terrible. It’s simply not the best creature feature we’ve ever seen. Dean Stockwell was great as usual, but that’s to be expected. Everyone else was just alright for the most part.
It does end sort of well. I mean, I don’t think it’s giving too much away to say that an insect survives because, of course it does. One always survives in these kinds of movies. It was an okay watch, but we don’t recommend it for anyone except die-hard creature feature freaks.
Our score: 39.
