Plot: Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers start eating people in NYC.
It opens with a woman being eaten by something in the sewer, so we thought it would just be chock full of awesome deaths, but it actually isn’t. It’s not very active at all, as you almost never see the monsters dwelling underground. And since it’s mostly homeless people going missing, the rest of the world doesn’t care so much, so there’s not much Freddy Claws. Also, Lauren (Greist) is annoying and you have to put up with her for the whole movie.
The movie kills a dog by hanging which are two things I hate – dog death and hanging. Points off. It’s unrealistic, too. Why would he bring a file called CHUD to a meeting where he was just going to deny the existence of CHUD? That’s stupid. Lastly, the movie ends on a really weak note. You don’t know if everyone’s alive, not even the CHUD’s. CHUD which also stands for Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal. Yeah, it’s a mouthful.
It’s funny in parts. We recommend a viewing to anyone who really wants to see it. It’s certainly a gem in certain circles, just not ours. Basically, it’s run-of-the-mill for us.
Our score: 49.
