Identity (2003)

Directed by James Mangold.  Written by Michael Cooney.  Starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Ray Liotta, Clea Duvall, Alfred Molina, Rebecca DeMornay, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Jake Busey and Marshall Bell.

Plot: people stranded at a Nevada motel during a nasty storm start being killed off one by one.

11 very different people (a cop, a prostitute, some newlyweds, an actress, etc. etc.) get stuck at a motel during a violent storm.  Everyone seems to be hiding something, so when people start dying, everyone’s a suspect.

The ways in which people die (stabbing, decapitation, bat shoved down the throat, etc.) are very inventive and get high marks.  It’s an original story with a great cast.  The effects were good, too, but this is one of those movies that me and DJ totally disagree on.

While I recommend it for it’s motive, it’s story and it’s ability to both fascinate and frighten me, DJ doesn’t recommend it at all.  He found it annoying.  And there’s absolutely no Freddy Claws which he hates.  When it came down to it, I loved the twist ending and DJ hated it.  So, our scores are drastically different, but we can’t agree on everything, can we??

My score: 56.  DJ’s score:  25.

“Yesterday upon the stair, I met a man who wasn’t there.

He wasn’t there again today.  I wish, I wish he’d go away.”
