Directed by BJ McDonnell. Written by Adam Green. Starring Danielle Harris, Zach Galligan, Derek Mears, Caroline Williams, Sid Haig, Sean Whalen and Kane Hodder.
Plot: crazy Amanda Fowler (Williams) thinks that if Marybeth (Harris) gives Victor Crowley (Hodder) his father’s ashes then he’ll go away forever.
The film picks up right where the last one left off, with Marybeth believing she has killed Victor. If only this movie had stayed as good as the first two.
Marybeth isn’t believed by the police about Victor and is made the prime suspect in the murders of all the people from the first two films. The only person who believes her is crazy Amanda, who wants Marybeth to give Victor his dead father’s ashes. Her story is batshit though. It was batshit from beginning to end. We didn’t like it. At all. As a matter of fact, we didn’t really like anything about this movie except for the cast.
The innovation in this one is lacking as it was just really a rehash of the first two movies. In parts it actually felt more like a bad action movie than a horror film. There was no Freddy Claws from the beginning (when they arrested Marybeth) to the end (when he told the chick not to go near the hole and she went near it anyway and died). Also, it deviated from the rules of the first two films, which is sad since the first two films were good and this one was shit.
Our score: 15.
