Directed by Tom Holland. Written by Holland, Don Mancini and John Lafia. Starring Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent and Brad Dourif.
Plot: a single mother unwittingly give her son a doll with a serial killer’s soul trapped inside.
We have to go back to the classic Child’s Play for Halloween. It is essential and very different from the new Child’s Play. In this film, Charles Lee Ray (Dourif) is dying after being shot several times by police officer Mike Norris (Sarandon), so he breaks into a toy store and using voodoo, places his soul into the body of a Good Guy doll. Some time later, Karen Barclay (Hicks) buys the same Good Guy doll off a street peddler for her son, Andy’s (Vincent) birthday.
Charles, or Chucky if you’re nasty, seeks revenge on the people who had something to do with his untimely demise. Mainly, Mike and his partner in crime, Eddie Caputo, who left him to die after panicking when the police showed up. Also, Chucky would like to become human again and in order to do that he needs to transfer his soul into the first person he revealed himself to, which would be poor, little, adorable Andy.
This movie follows excellent rules, has a fantastic cast, incredible effects and an original story. The Freddy Claws sucks really bad, but that’s only one thing out of many. Me and DJ love this movie and highly recommend.
Our score: 83.
