Plot: a burnt out horror icon holds a fright fest in a small town’s abandoned asylum with more than unpleasant results.
Spencer Crowe (Walsh) is a horror guru that gets a DUI and starts to falter. So, he takes a job in a small town running a fright fest to hopefully put himself back on top. In the meantime, a young man named Mason (Baines) is being sent to an institution for shooting his foster parents, but the prison transport gets into an accident and some of the inmates, including Mason, escape.
The ticket taker at the asylum mistakes Mason and another criminal, Ruben (Camp) for actors in the fright fest and lets them in through the back door. So, right away you find out that it’s Ruben killing people and not Mason. Mason is actually trying to warn people. But Crowe is so high he doesn’t know what is really going on.
What started as an awesome slasher, ended up shit. It shit the bed. It really did. The motive was bad. The rules were a mess. It was unrealistic and not scary. We don’t recommend.
My score: 37. DJ’s score: 31.
