Plot: A family moves into a house and is stalked by a giant spider
The movie centers around a single mom, her two kids, and her new employer/client and there is quite a bit of back story, some of which is unloaded in the beginning but with the rest of the pieces placed sporadically throughout most of the rest of the movie. For me it moved a little slow in the beginning or at least disjointed maybe. But it does pick up.
I also didn’t find myself sympathizing with anyone let alone actually liking them, at least in the first half of the movie. But again that picked up for me too. For too much of the movie everyone yells at everyone else pretty much, with only the boy having any real right to yell at anyone. His little sister is young, sure but that doesn’t have to mean stupid, but she is. The mom has a few obvious shortcomings, especially her parenting. The sheriff is by far the best and most likable character though others to rise to the occasion but only after a while.
We found this to be pretty realistic, especially for a big spider movie. The special effects were good which helped said realism. We did not however love the direction but it wasn’t horrible. Overall it was a good watch that i definitely recommend.
Tara gave it a 57/100 and I scored it a 65/100, it isn’t perfect but it is entertaining.
