Pulse (2001)

Written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.  Starring Kumiko Aso, Haruhiko Katu, Koyuki and Kurume Arisaka.

Plot: ghosts invade the world of the living through the internet.

Taguchi has been missing for several days, so his co-worker, Michi (Aso) goes to see him.  He’s been working on this computer disk and seems disturbed when she visits.  So disturbed that while she’s talking, he goes into another room and hangs himself.  Elsewhere, a young man named Kawashima (Kato), signs up for the internet and is immediately shown unnerving pictures of people he doesn’t know.  Also, his computer keeps coming on by itself.

The movie is very confusing and it jumps back and forth quite a bit.  The convaluted BS is the main reason we didn’t like it.  Also, we didn’t know the rules really.  If there were any.  It was kind of a WTF kind of movie.  Not our cup of tea.  There were some creepy parts though, but not enough to save the film.

My score: 31.  DJ’s score: 28.
