From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Written by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Kurtzman

Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Starring George Clooney, uentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hayek, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Tom Savini and John Saxon

Plot: 2 criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek refuge in a truck stop bar populated by vampires.

We follow a couple of criminals running from the law and of course both are bad but one is more “reasonable” while the other is pretty psycho. Guess which person plays him lol. This is one of only a handful of vampire movies that I actually like.

This has good acting and a great cast. Plenty of gratuitous nudity. Vamps were nasty (as i think vamps should be). I really liked the last scene or two as a sort of big reveal. This is Tarantino though so there is too much foul language. I’m no saint but almost no one does or even should talk like this. The two criminals are unlikable so it lost points for that. The end was better than the beginning.

The movie overall was good. Interesting characters, engaging story, entertaining visuals. Some thoughts on faith, trust and family. I get shit for this all the time but this is one of a very small number of Tarantino movies I think is any good at all. But aside from blind hero worship, I recommend this for your viewing pleasure.

Tara liked it with a score of 56/100, I liked it a little more with a score of 66/100.

  1. I watched this movie not having a clue about the plot and liked the beginning enough I think it could have continued the way it was going. When I first transitioned I thought it was the dumbest thing I’d ever seen, but then the wild carnage kicked in and kept going and I loved it. Still one of my most favorite movies with a superstar cast.
