Storage 24 (2012)

Directed by Johannes Roberts. Written by Roberts, Noel Clarke, Davie Fairbanks and Marc Small. Starring Clarke, Fairbanks, Colin ODonoghue, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Laura Haddock, Jamie Thomas King, Alex Price, Ned Dennehy, Geoff Bell and Ruth Gemmell.

Plot: a group of people get stuck in a storage facility with a hungry alien creature.

A plane crashes in London and it turns out to be military. Meanwhile, Charlie (Clarke) has just been dumped by his girlfriend, Shelley (Campbell-Hughes). He goes to the storage facility with his best friend, Mark (O’Donoghue) to get some of his things, but it turns out that Shelley and some of her friends are there getting her things. The situation is tense and gets even worse when Bob (Bell), a maintenance man, gets torn up by something that’s loose in the facility. Then, they realize they’re all trapped inside with the creature and shit implodes.

While DJ and I usually have a hard time with directors who are writers and writers who are actors, this all works. Really well. It was so entertaining. Never boring. It was funny and creepy and the acting was good. A lot of people didn’t like this though, saying it was another Alien ripoff, but it’s not even in space people! They also say it looked cheap (we disagree) and that the plot was absurd. We don’t get that either. We liked the plot. It worked for us. Maybe it’ll work for you.

My score: 76. DJ’s score: 70.
