Grabbers (2012)

Directed by Jon Wright. Written by Kevin Lehane. Starring Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley, Russell Tovey, Bronagh Gallagher, Lalor Roddy and David Pearse.

Plot: bloodsucking aliens wash up on the shore of a small Irish town and getting really, really drunk is the only way to survive them.

Something comes out of the sky and lands in the ocean. It kills three men on a fishing boat. Meanwhile, Ciaran O’Shea (Coyle), a cop, gets a new partner, Lisa Nolan (Bradley), that he doesn’t want. Then, something comes ashore and starts eating people on land and they have to work together to stop it. With the help of a doctor (Tovey) they discover that the alien beings won’t eat the very drunk. Hilarity ensues.

The effects are well done. It’s funny as hell. The rules were good. Everyone is likable. It was original, well-acted, and totally rewatchable. We loved this movie. It’s very ownable and we highly recommend a watch.

My score: 82. DJ’s score: 87.
