The Hollow (2004)

Directed by Kyle Newman. Written by Hans Rodionoff. Starring Kevin Zegers, Kaley Cuoco, Nick Carter, Stacy Keach, Judge Reinhold, Nicholas Turturro, Eileen Brennan, Joseph Mazzello and Melissa Schuman.

Plot: the new kid in Sleepy Hollow finds out that he is a direct descendent of Ichabod Crane and must save the town from the Headless Horseman.

This movie was released on TV, but that doesn’t mean it necessarily HAS to be bad, but it is. The script doesn’t make anyone look good, not even the star. The real shame though is the bully character we get from Nick Carter. He’s the lamest white kid who obviously wants to be a black kid ever. Except there really aren’t any black kids even in this town, so….

What else is wrong with this movie? No one listens to the old dude. Why for? He’s always right. The movie is very G-PG rated until the trashy nurse shows up talking about “boneyards” and showing areolae. The editing is atrocious – for instance the Headless Horsemen breaks through the same door twice. All Kaley does is whine and say, “What’s going on?” The soundtrack was horrible. And there were too many slow motion chase scenes. And then the end didn’t even matter? What?!!?

I suppose you could have a little bit of fun with it if you watched it and took a sip of something-something everytime anyone shouts Ian’s name. But otherwise, it’s a real waste of a movie.

Our score: 24.
