Blade II (2002)

Written by David S. Foyer

Directed by Guillermo del Toro

Starring Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Ron Perlman, Norman Reedus, Leonor Varela, Luke Goss, Thomas Kretschmann and Tony Curran.

Plot: Blade forms an uneasy alliance with the vampire council in order to battle vampires who feed on humans AND their own kind.

Years before the official MCU and even before the fox X-Men movies and Sony Spider Man movies we got the original Blade. This is the sequel and my personal favorite of the trilogy. Marvel characters usually fascinate me and Blade is no exception.

Anyone who knows me or eagle eyed fans of our blog know my tenuous relationship with vampire movies. In fact out of the very extensive collection of vampire movies there may not be more than 10 that I really like or love. This is one of them.

We pick up a bit after the first one where Blade is tracking down Whistler. We also meet a group of what are essentially vampire commandos. They and Blade team up against a common enemy, though it turns out to be more complicated than that.

With an even harder Whistler and new accomplice Scud (Reedus) Blade begrudgingly works with the vampires who have been trained to hunt him.

We disagreed on amount of Freddy claws but I can’t elaborate without giving stuff away. Just know we didn’t see the flow the same way. We both liked the ending, I also like the beginning. Tara didn’t find it to be as “fun” as the first one or third one. I dig it more than both of them.

Tara “liked” it with a score of 53 and I pretty much loves it with a score of 81/100
