Plot: Valley girl cheerleader, Buffy Summers (Swanson) learns she is destined to be a vampire slayer.

In the mythos of the movie, when one slayer dies, another must be trained to take her place. Buffy Summers, a vapid Los Angeles teenager, is that chosen one. She begins having nightmares about a vampire named Lothos (Hauer), but she contiues with her usual activities of shopping, cheerleading, dating and planning the next school dance. But then she meets Merrick (Sutherland), an older man who tells her of her fate as the slayer. She resists this knowledge at first, but then Merrick tells her things about herself she hasn’t told anyone and he eventually takes her to kill an actual vampire.

Buffy is a pain in the beginning, but she starts training anyway and it begins to change her into a far more likable person. Eventually she even meets a guy, Pike (Perry), who recently lost his best friend, Benny (Arquette), to the vampire world. Now Pike and Merrick work with Buffy to get ready to take on Lothos.

The cast is beautiful, literally. I mean, how much hotter could Luke Perry have been? Not much. LOL. The specials were good, the Freddy Claws was fantastic, it followed rules, was realistic, quotable and like, totally fun to watch over and over again. It was also really funny, but still maintained a bit of heart, which we love. We realize that it isn’t getting an amazing score from many people, but we love this movie and don’t understand the people who don’t.

Our score: 83.
