Plot: the Predator comes to LA and a police officer tries to hunt him down during a crime wave
This one came out in 90′ but they set it in 1997 for some reason. A not far future in which the city of angels has become a war zone in which rival gangs fight openly in the streets with fucking grenade launchers some how. Lieutenant Michael Harrington (Glover) is caught in the middle of a turf war between Colombians and Jamaicans when he is made aware of FBI agent Peter Keyes (Busey).
This expounds upon the predator mythos quite well. Putting him in a more familiar setting than the jungle from the first one. A lot of the humans behave way worse than the title guy as I think is the point of all good predator movies. The city is a shit show, law enforcement is crooked or apathetic. They fight amongst themselves. Danny Glover and his team try their best though. Most every citizen carries a weapon which you learn in one of my favorite scenes that I won’t divulge here, just know that the predator isn’t exactly a role model but at least they have a code of honor.
This movie has something important to say and the message seems even more poignant now. Sadly, many humans lack the ability or maybe desire to see themselves.
The time jump from 90 to 97 is unrealistic and cartoonish(not in the good way). Too much random shit. Bad Freddy Claws and the story would have been better if not set in some weird future. Some characters over acted, some of the fight scenes weren’t convincing.
Most of the acting was good though, the protagonists were likeable, the cast was good, script followed rules and the ending is good. Motive, innovation and special effects are all good. O and there are boobs.
I really liked it, gave it a 68, Tara liked it too but not quite as much with a 57
