Great White (2021)

Directed by Martin Wilson. Written by Michael Boughen. Starring Katrina Bowden, Aaron Jakubenko, Tim Kano, Kimie Tsukakoshi and Te Kohe Tuhaka.

Plot: a tourist trip turns into a nightmare for 5 people on a seaplane when they become stranded in the middle of the ocean.

Kaz (Bowden) and her boyfriend, Charlie (Jakubenko), run a small charter plane business. Benny (Tuhaka) is a friend and cook that goes with them on their longer trips. Joe (Kano) and his wife, Michelle (Tsukakoshi), charter the plane to spread her grandfather’s ashes. When they land on the shore, they discover a dead body with his legs bitten off by a shark. The five of them look at the deceased body’s phone and realize he had a girlfriend. They find his boat a little while later, girlfriend still inside, but also dead due to a shark attack.

All five of them head for the plane, but a large shark attacks and sinks it. They inflate the raft and climb aboard, but fights soon break out between them. Joe is an exceptional dick and is often the cause of said fights. So, obviously, Freddy Claws is was pretty low. Also, I was sad when certain of the five died. DJ liked the whole of the story more than me and the ending as well. However, we both enjoyed the acting, the direction and certain camera shots. The shark was scary as was the shipwreck towards the end of the film.

My score: 65. DJ’s score: 74.
