620-the-blob-movie-favorite-movie-monsters.imgcache.rev1347642401847You see that huge glob of strawberry jelly up there – who wouldn’t want to watch it kill people?!!  Which is why this isn’t the traditional review.  It really doesn’t matter what DJ and I think, you should be watching this movie already.  WHY AREN’T YOU WATCHING THIS MOVIE ALREADY??!!!

First of all, it is highly original.  What other movie is a glob of jam killing people?  Second of all, it is hilarious.  Even when it’s not supposed to be.  And that’s sometimes the best movie to watch.  Third of all, there is a GREAT soundtrack.  The blob even has it’s very own theme:

Beware of The Blob, it creeps

And leaps and glides and slides

Across the floor

Right through the door

And all around the wall

A splotch, a blotch

Be careful of The Blob

Now repeat that incessantly and you have yourself a theme song.

I gave it a 55/100 and DJ gave it a 50.  That’s not high, but you still HAVE to watch it.

Now if you’re in desperate need of a horror movie you haven’t seen yet and the remake comes on, you can watch that, too, it’s just not as good.  Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont (long before he was uber famous) made the 1988 version staring Shawnee Smith and Kevin Dillon.  It’s a horrible movie, but it’s a fun sort of horrible.  We give it a 35 and a 30 respectively, but still think you should watch it for shits and giggles.
