Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

Directed by Philip Kaufman.  Written by W. P. Richter based (loosely) on the Jack Finney novel.  Starring Brooke Adams, Veronica Cartwright, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy and Donald Sutherland.

Plot: a group of people discover the human race is being replaced by emotionless doppelgangers

Invasion-cast

This body snatcher movie is critically acclaimed and we can totally see why that is.  It’s got a great cast, great specials and phenomenal direction.  But an ending can make or break a movie for us, and we hated the end.  Besides the fact that it deviates completely from the book, it’s also very depressing.  So, very, very depressing.

Aside from the ending, Leonard Nimoy is a huge ass in the film who I would’ve kicked right out of my house.  The pod/flowers/birth canals are fucking gross as hell.  And the dog with the human face was uncalled for.  What was even the point of that?  Everyone knows I would hate something like that.  And I do.

We gave it a shot and the critics might pan us, but no dice on this one.  We give it a 40/100.
