Directed by John Hough.  Written by Richard Matheson, based on his novel, Hell House.  Starring Roddy McDowall, Pamela Franklin, Gayle Hunnicutt and Clive Revill.

Plot: a group of researchers spend a week in the “Mount Everest of Haunted Houses” formerly owned by a serial killer and now haunted by him and his victims.

The researchers that go into the house are Dr. Lionel Barrett (who is convinced he can fix the house) and his wife, Ann.  Also, Miss Tanner (the mental medium) and Ben Fischer (the physical medium).  Ben survived the house once before.  We have no idea why he goes back.

The people were likable enough and the cast was good, but the motive was just sad and the movie wasn’t scary.  I’ve read the book and it was really good and I expected more from Matheson and the movie.  This was just too weird and the final act brings up more questions then it answers.

Our score: 25.
