Tormented (2009)

Directed By Jon Wright. Written by Stephen Prentice. Starring Alex Pettyfer, Georgia King, Tom Hopper, Tuppence Middleton, Calvin Dean, April Pearson, Olly Alexander and Dimitri Leonidas.

Plot: after a bullied kid kills himself, his tormentors start dying off not-so-tragically.

At the funeral for the unpopular and bullied, Darren Mullet (Dean), Justine Fielding (Middleton) gives a touching eulogy. It is, however, mocked by another student, Jason (Alexander), who claims, very loudly, that Justine did not even care about Darren and is a hypocrite. He even gets thrown out of the church by a dick teacher. Later on, Justine joins horny, Alex (Leonidas) at a party with all his “cool” friends: biggest bully ever, Bradley (Pettyfer), loud, jealous, Tasha (Pearson), instigator, Sophie (King) and arrogant jock, Marcus (Hopper). At the party, they all toast Darren, even though the best of them didn’t know him, and the worst, tormented him.

Although these asshats start dying almost immediately, this movie is a little bit of a slow burn. Stick with it, however, because the payoff is great! A lot of time is taken to build characters and to set up all the mayhem. You get to learn all about these little piss ant kids, bullying everyone, even each other. You begin to understand why these bitches that have never spent one minute with an original thought, totally deserve to die violent deaths. We truly enjoyed watching the carnage.

None of the characters are really likable, except for the killer, but that makes the motive delightful. We belive that the story followed fantastic rules and was super realistic. The acting was great as well. We really believed the kids were jerks. The movie even had some genuinely funny moments, nice effects and meaningful direction. We find it highly re-watchable. Overall, it’s a splendid little revenge tale we both recommend.

My score: 81. DJ’s score: 85.
