Based on “Bridge to Body Island” by Robert Damon Schneck, this movie follows 3 friends who buy a new house and start seeing and “feeling” things.  They hold a seance with a friend who knows how to do them (but who is not the greatest actress) and she ends up having a fit.  Things get worse from there.

Overall, we wanted better.  I’ll try not to give anything away, but Elliot (Smith) is stupid and the movie is unrealistic.  They also wasted the scariness of the Bye Bye Man.  There are no real jump scares and Doug Jones is a scary dude.  There should be some damn jump scares.  It’s highly unoriginal.  The rules are made up as they go.  Didn’t love the story either.

What was his motive?  Where did he come from?  What was with the coins or the beast?  We give it low points for acting and casting, because everyone but Smith, Jones and Moss were unbelievable most of the time.

With a monster like The Bye Bye Man, we just wanted it to be scarier.  Instead, we nearly hated the damn thing.

Our score: 22.
