Plot: a teenage girl moves into a new home with her family to care for her sick father, who is potentially getting sicker because of the potentially fucked up house.

Regina’s (Paquin), father, Mark (Glen) has Huntington’s Disease and starts having seizures again shortly after moving into their new home in Spain.  Mark’s mentally stability comes and goes as well.  And Regina’s little brother, Paul (Enquist) is having an especially hard time.  He’s become afraid of the dark and is preoccupied with “ghosts” in the house.  And Regina she thinks something is wrong with the house even before anything sinister happens.

Unfortunately, aside from some creepy parts, the movie is a fail.  A big fail.  It was unevenly intense.  Like a bad soap opera.  For instance, why would you send your son to his room when all the bad stuff happens when he’s there?  And what was the point of it all?  Who was the evil really after?  Are we dumb or is the movie?  Because we just don’t get it.  We totally missed the boat.  As a matter of fact, we didn’t even see the fucking boat.  That’s how far from the boat we were.

Our score: 15.

  1. Sounds like one to skip and just pretend there is no boat to get on. Totally agree with your questioning why you’d send the boy to his room when all the bad stuff goes on there. How many times does that happen in horror movies? Some people just seem to hate kids.
