If you haven’t seen this movie yet, stop reading now, I’m giving lots away.

Don (Carlyle) and Alice are separated from their children and hiding out in a house with several other people when they are attacked by zombies.  Don, the fucker, abandons his wife to get away from the zombies.  Successfully escaping, Don goes to the “safe zone” and meets up with his children who he immediately lies to.  He tells them that he couldn’t save their mother and she died and so he ran.  In reality though, he doesn’t know what happened to her after he fled.  He just assumes she’s dead.

Of course, she isn’t.

Don’s son and daughter leave the safe zone to go looking for their mother.  STUPID!  They find her, but she isn’t quite right.  Then the soldiers (Renner, Perrineau, Elba) find them and take them all back to the safe zone.

Things go bad pretty quickly after that.  Alice has the infection even though not really a zombie herself.  She bites Don out of revenge and he becomes infected.  He runs around and turns a lot more people and suddenly it’s mayhem.

A soldier (Renner) and a medical expert (Byrne) take it upon themselves to try and save Alice’s and Don’s children.  However, Don is coming after both of them with all he’s got.  But why?  Why does he want his children dead so badly?

The best parts of the movie are when Renner and Bryne are on-screen together, it just doesn’t happen enough.  Plus, they both die trying to protect the kids.  Jeremy’s death being particularly awful.

The helicopter kills are cool.  Looks like he’s mowing the lawn.  It’s a freaky little movie.  I don’t want to watch it alone in the dark and neither does DJ.  The ending is kind of vague though.  Are they infected?  Are they dead?  Did the boy go crazy and eat his sister?  We hate that it’s so up in the air.

While not as good as the first one, we recommend it wholeheartedly.  It’s just a shame that the 2 best characters die.

My score: 71.  DJ’s score: 61.
