My Happy Halloween 10 Favorite movies to watch for the season!

This is my own personal list of 10 movies I always enjoy watching in October. I’m not numbering these because I don’t want to rank them. One isn’t automatically better than another; they are all movies that make me feel the spirit. Some may be obvious, some, perhaps, less so. But these are my October favorites, let me know what you think!

I have to start off with Shaun of the Dead. I have adored this movie since I first saw it. I still can’t believe it has been 20 years. Time has not changed my love for this hilarious homage to zombie flicks, specifically Romero’s undead. The cast is great, the jokes still make me laugh. It also has heart and some good scares!

Next up is Hellraiser. I am going to cheat a bit here and count the first three and the newest one. I love them all for different reasons. I first saw Hellraiser on VHS. I remember it was a two tape special edition and I loved it so much. Incredible characters and visuals. Amazing dialogue. I never grow weary of Pinhead.

Technically cheating again, but it is my list so it’s my rules. I watch the Friday movies religiously. I know them by heart. Sometimes, I will put them on in the background while I do other things because they are a source of joy and comfort. Jason is my homeboy.

Smile. A movie that is so well made and so unnerving. I prefer not to watch it alone.

The Halloween series. This is an obvious pick, but who can resist Halloween on Halloween?! I mean, what would the season of the jack-o’-lantern be without the shape.

Return of the Living Dead. An absolute favorite of mine. Cheesy fun and the just the right amount of gore. Incredible soundtrack. It makes me laugh and I love Linnea Quigley.

Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein. An undeniable classic that is a ton of fun. I really enjoy this movie. I love almost everything this legendary duo did. You can’t have Halloween without the classic monsters!

Addams Family Values. I love the original movie too, and the classic show, and the new animated ones as well, for that matter. But this one is my favorite. Wednesday and Pugsley going to camp is amazing. It is so funny and so perfect, I want to watch it just from writing this.

The Stand. The ultimate in good versus evil. Now this is a mini series, of course, but it is too good not to include. Mother Abigail is one of my favorite movie characters ever! The soundtrack is perfect and there’s so many lines of dialogue that I love. Characters I root for every single time I watch. My life for this movie!

It Chapter One is terrifying and heartbreaking and funny and just an all around great movie and ya know what? A complete and total ditto for Chapter Two.
